The bumblebee’s wings are so thin and its body so big, it should not be able to fly. The only problem is, the bee doesn’t know that!
~ David Lindsay

I received this through a daily email from Iyanla Vanzant – an amazing spiritual teacher and author.

The rest of the email went on to say, that the difference between bumblebees and humans, is that bumblebees don’t talk – but humans do! Can you imagine the conversation if someone did tell the bumblebee that it shouldn’t or couldn’t fly! The bumblebee knows what it wants to do, what it was born to do – and then be told that it shouldn’t do it?

How many times have you wanted to try something, and then got told by people around you that you couldn’t or shouldn’t do it? How did you feel afterwards? Did you do it anyway, or did you hold back?

Recently, another volcano errupted in Iceland and it reminded me of my adventures last year when I was stranded in America after my Interior Alignment course. I was luckier than most, as someone within my community of Soul Coaches offered me somewhere to stay whilst the flights were all grounded.

This bumblebee email reminded me of my time when I was getting ready to become a Soul Coach. When I told my friends and family, some were positive about what would happen, whilst others told me that it was the wrong thing to do and that I will regret it. Despite all that people told me, I realised that I had to follow my heart, and I had to do what felt right for me. So I did. I ended up having the best time in my life, and meeting so many wonderful people!

When I heard about the volcano, and reflected on this email it brought up a “What If” scenario in my mind. What if I didn’t go on the Soul Coaching course. I would not have become a part of that community, then I would have been really stranded when I was in America. I wouldn’t have the support from a wonderful group of people – and I don’t think I would be as happy as I am now, or have experienced the things I have in the last three years.

I have learnt, that people will always have an opinion. No matter what I am going through in my life, they will have an opinion on what I do, but it is based on their experiences and their view. They could never know the whole story of my life, and what has prompted me to do what I choose to do. I am not saying that what they are wrong, as I know that my friends want the very best for me. However, I do listen to what is being said, and connect to what I feel is right for me. Sometimes, they have good advice, and I take it on board. Other times, I thank them for what they have said, and do what feels right for me. At the end of it, I know that I have done something that I wanted to do, and not regretted it.

If you have ever felt that you haven’t done something because of what someone else has said, think of that person and send them gratititude and love – there may be a reason that you didn’t know about then.

If it something that you still want to do – then think of some ways that can help you do it, or maybe something better. You have all the time in the world to fufil your dreams, so why not start today!
