Change either happens to us, or we can incite it. When we find clarity in where we are, we’re able to take the next step on our journey to intended change.

I remember when I first picked up the Soul CoachingĀ® book. It was December 2007 and I was given it, along with the oracle cards as a Christmas present. I had asked for it, it wasn’t as though my friend was telling me something, because I was starting the program virtually with Denise Linn. The first exercise in the book has become my favourite exercise and one I do again and again. It was a lesson in clarity for where I was in my life at that time.

Back then, life was okay but it wasn’t perfect. I don’t remember the specifics, but I knew I was yearning for something more. I was looking for something else in life, even though I didn’t know what it was. Before you can incite change into your life, you need to know where you are and where you want to be. As I wrote the answers to the questions posed to me in that first exercise, it dawned on me how much of life I wanted to live, but wasn’t doing so.

The difference was, I now knew where I was in my life, what was true to me. Before we start on any journey we have to know where we are. If we get in the car to go somewhere, we have to know where we are first so we can go in the right direction. There is beauty in not knowing where we want to go and finding beauty along the way, but most of us have an idea of what we want to be doing in our life.

Finding Clarity for Change

To find clarity in where you are in your life right now, and what is true to you, here are the areas I look at in my life. Write down where you are, and where you would like to be in terms of the following;

  • your abundance
  • how people see you
  • your relationships – both romantic and friendships
  • your creativity
  • relaxation and rejuvenation time
  • your career
  • personal and spiritual development
  • your family
  • your health

As a suggestion, reverse the exercise and ask yourself where you want to be, and where you are now.

When you have this information, you’re ready to take the next step on your journey. We’ll go into this in more detail in my next blog.
